How To Throw A Kebab-ecue

Summer is here and we’re ready to celebrate.  This year turn your traditional barbecue into a kebab-ecue.  Serving up apps, main courses and desserts on kebabs means less mess.  Try some of the unique recipes for some summer time fun.

Caprese Kebabs

1 package 8-inch bamboo skewers

1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes

2 tubs (1 pound) fresh mozarella balls

24 leaves fresh basil

Extra virgin olive oil (drizzle)

Salt and pepper

Sesame Chicken Kebabs

Grilled Sesame Chicken Kebabs


1 package of 8-inch bamboo skewers

2 lbs. chicken tenders

4 garlic cloves peeled and crust

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup seasoned rice wine vinegar

3 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon fresh ginger root, peeled and grated

4 medium green onions, chopped

2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil

1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Combine the soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, honey, ginger, onions, sesame oil and sesame seeds to make a marinade. Pour marinade into Ziplock bag, add chicken tenders and mix around so that all pieces of the chicken are covered in the marinade. Set in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours.  Put chicken on skewers and grill for 8-10 minutes.

1 package of pound cake, angel food cake or lady fingers

20 strawberries, washed and stems rooted

1 8oz container of frozen whipped topping

Sugar for sprinkling

20 skewers cut to size

Assemble any way you like and enjoy.
